Founded by parents, this blog aims to help us all navigate the many options for middle school in Los Angeles. Rather than go at it alone, we share information to help make the best, informed choices for each individual child. Why reinvent the wheel? Welcome…and join the conversation!
This is a collaborative effort—please contribute! If you know of a great school that's missing, please post at "Suggest A School Here" (left column) and tell us what you know about it.
If you don't see a school here yet, please suggest it! Just make a comment to this post, including school name, basic info, tour dates, and what you know about it.
I am going to look into St. Paul the Apostle. It is located next to Emerson, exact address is: 10750 Ohio Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024
It is obviously a catholic school, but they accept all faiths. It has one of the highest academic ratings in the system. It goes though 8th grade. It is a great feeder school to Loyola and Notre Dame High School in the valley. It is larger than most of the other catholic school and offers a broad education and sports program. They will have their one open house in January and the application is due by Feb. 28,2010
I think John Burroughs Middle School has a gifted magnet. The school is near Highland and 6th St. They are offering tours on 11/17 and 12/9 at 9:00am.
